Ian brings over 30 years’ experience in technology companies operating from the US and the UK. He was previously Chairman of Sweden’s Birdstep Technology, SID of Paysafe and Chairman of Brady – all exits to private equity. His earlier roles included partnership in Crescendo Ventures, Chairman of Oplink Communications, and President of Uniphase. He’s currently Chairman and CEO of Smartkem, Chairman of Impression Technologies, and a non-executive Director of Nexeon, Econic and Zeetta Networks.
Andrew has focused on growing new & disruptive products and services in electronics, sensors and telecoms. He has held commercial roles up to £1.2Bn, has 10 years’ GM experience up to £80m, and 10 years with small companies. He has lived in 3 continents and speaks three languages. He has a physics & engineering degree from Cambridge and an INSEAD MBA.
Andy joined Pyreos in November 2015, bringing a wealth of operational and finance experience across venture-backed software start-ups, high-growth SMEs and publicly traded marketing groups. Most recently, Andy spent four years at early stage investor Archangels, raising equity capital and securing exits in Scotland’s flourishing technology sector.

Gary joined Pyreos in 2020 and manages our operations. Bringing 30+ years of experience in senior manufacturing management and engineering to his role, Gary recently served as VP Operations at CST Global for all manufacturing, both in-house (foundry services and production) and sub-contracted assembly and component development. He has previously held senior leadership roles at Intense (VP Operations), IQE (Operations Director) and CIP Technologies (Senior Operations Manager), Samsung & NEC.
Gary OsborneVP Engineering
Gary joined Pyreos in 2015 and is responsible for product development and customer support. His career started in R&D at UK computer pioneers Apricot. At digital TV specialists Pace he was Engineering Manager and later moved to M&A, Product Management covering EMEA and Asia-Pac, and Business Development. He has also held senior roles with US tech giant EchoStar, being responsible for key innovative products in new markets.
John joined Pyreos in 2016 and leads the development team. Since graduating from the University of Melbourne with a doctorate in chemical engineering, Dr Phair has worked as a research associate at the National Research Council in Washington DC, a post-doctoral fellow at CSIRO in Australia, and a scientist at the Risø National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy at the Technical University of Denmark. Dr Phair joined Pyreos from poLight, a Norwegian company that develops autofocus lens components based on piezo technology for mobile applications.

Prof Roger WhatmoreAdvisor
Roger Whatmore has over 40 years’ experience in R&D of ferroelectric and related materials and the devices using them, especially pyroelectrics. He has held R&D leadership roles at Cambridge, Imperial College, Cranfield and Tyndall National Institute, Cork. He has also held commercial R&D roles at Plessey, GEC Marconi and Irisys. He was a founder of Irisys (Pyroelectric arrays in people counting & thermal imaging with over 70 patents) acquired by Fluke in 2012.
